Rotate

Rotate's objects are based on Irene Vergitsis' artworks and they are distinguished by their elaborate motifs and linear design.

Discovery

When Rotate approached us with images of their products I was immediately struck by the dazzling visuals and kaleidoscope of colours.

A lifestyle brand selling items for both homeware and fashion, it was founded in 2015 in Athens by three close friends: Irene Vergitsis, Irene Kalogiannidis and Alexandros Staikos.

Their outstanding creations are aesthetically innovative, combining intricate prints and patterns which are then digitally applied onto a variety of materials such as porcelain and plexiglass with stunning results.

Rotate's mission is to bring art into the home with items used in our daily lives including dinner ware, coasters and cushions.

All their objects are based on Irene Vergitsis' artworks and they are distinguished by their elaborate motifs and linear design.

For A Magic Cabinet we have selected their “Go-to” mugs.

The brand changes its prints annually either making them more elaborate or more minimal depending on trends or on the founders’ instincts. Their pieces offer elegance and artistic value at reasonable prices.

The three friends decide together on which surface each artwork will be printed and source their raw materials from Europe while mostly collaborate with Greek artisans who transfer their images onto the products.

Memory

The three founders are childhood friends.

Irene Vergitsis studied Fashion Promotion & Illustration in the UK and her works of art have been displayed in many exhibitions.

Irene studied Architecture and Interior Design in London and Alexandros Business Management and Organisation.

At the same time, Irene Kalogiannidis runs her family’s business selling furniture and decorative objects, from which she gets valuable experience which she uses for Rotate.

Alexandros and Irene Kalogiannidis had always admired Irene's paintings which they felt should not just hang on a wall, therefore they created Rotate.

Narration

Rotate is based in Neo Psychico, a Northern suburb of Athens.

People can visit their vibrant showroom upon appointment.

Their biggest challenge when launching a new item or line is to agree between them on its style. Another challenge is to find reliable suppliers therefore they search carefully for their providers.

The Go-to Mug is made of porcelain. Porcelain was invented in China beginning with "proto-porcelain" during the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC). Exports to Europe began around 1660.

The Chinese porcelain was held in such great esteem in Europe that in English the word “china” became a synonym for porcelain.
