7 Food Sins
This sinful restaurant is to be found in a beautiful neoclassical building in Plaka. In this picturesque neighbourhood, most food options are very traditionally Greek so 7 Food Sins, the first gastro pub to open in Athens, shakes things up a little. There are some ingenious twists on Greek dishes like the inside-out souvlaki, where the meat becomes the pita, and “crunchy moussaka”. The menu is seasonal and changes every three months. There is also a great wine list and an interesting selection of local beers.
1 Filomousou Etairias Square, Plaka
Fancy a picnic in the heart of the city centre? The Foundry Hotel’s rooftop is a green oasis with amazing views of the Acropolis, Filopappou Hill and the Observatory. Your picnic basket will be full of Greek cold meats and cheeses, which you can enjoy alongside a great wine list, full of options from small Greek wineries.
Sarri 40, Psiri
One of the most beautiful Athenian courtyards, full of olive and mulberry trees, vintage chairs from old coffee houses and cinemas, fairy lights and bunting, is to be found on the grounds of the old Psiri cinema. Lokali is a play on the word local as that’s how it aims to make you feel, like a local. There is Greek food, with a modern twist, aperitivo, great beers and cocktails, made primarily from Greek spirits.

Luigi Sky Bar Restaurant
Luigi Sky Bar Restaurant is an all-day destination in Plaka, the city’s most picturesque neighbourhood. The food has a Mediterranean feel, with great cocktails and desserts. The fact that you can almost touch the Acropolis is an added bonus!
Mnisikleous 22, Plaka
Anglais has one of the city’s best locations, with amazing views of the Acropolis, the Observatory and Lycabettus Hill. You’ll be able to enjoy your drink in a tropical setting, with relaxing colours and retro tiling. In the 80s this terrace was a humble canteen for the workers in the building, serving nothing but Greek coffee.
Kirikiou 6, Athens
The wonderful Hytra roof terrace is the second best reason to visit the Onassis Cultural Centre. The restaurant holds a Michelin star and the bar serves one of a kind cocktails, focusing on Greek herbs and spices, as well as traditional liqueurs and brandy.
